Paper Mache Clay Recipe
Hello Everyone! I am passing along some paper mache clay recipes. If you like paper clay, you will love this. You can use it wet or dry. Here is where I was guided to for paper mache clay recipes and videos https://www.ultimatepapermache.com/recipes . However, my college professor modified her recipe and came up with her own which I will share here. If you have any questions, hit me up on social media. You can find them to the left and at the top of the page.
Here are the ingredients which I will go through below. Add each wet ingredient and stir, then a little of the dry ingredients at a time between stirring.
1 cup of densely packed (like brown sugar) toilet paper shredded.
1 cup of joint compound (Dap doesn't work according to the paper mache lady)
1 cup of white school glue. I use the cheap stuff from Hobby Lobby (I tried Elmers and it didn't work for me. I tried two batches and they both failed).
1 tablespoon each of baby oil or vegetable oil and dish soap
1 cup each of cornstarch and white flour (I have used unbleached flour in a pinch. It's just not as white.)
Use your hands to knead it like dough until desired consistency. You can either add a few drops of water at a time to make it wetter or add a little cornstarch at a time to make it drier.
After it is mixed, let it sit in a zip bag until ready to use. It will last for a few days before molding.
