Learning to Applique by Hand

I ran across this Australian company and loved the look of the applique and embroidery and thought that this would be a great way to get back into quilting.  It really didn't take long to arrive.  Everything you need is included in the kit except the glue stick and scissors and I used carbon paper for tracing.  The fabrics are beautiful and they come pre-ironed and ready for you to use.  It comes with a pattern for the design.  I used this and carbon paper to trace the design onto each piece of fabric, cut them out, arranged them onto the fabric that I was working on, used a glue stick to secure them to the fabric, then straight stitched around all of the shapes.  I did this instead of overlapping the fabric to make the design more flat because that is my aesthetic preference.  The fabrics are nice but I wish the kit came with extra for me to play with on a different piece of art.  They are very thin as well.  The embroidery floss is a nice color palette and good quality.  I broke the needle threader but I have a really bad habit of doing that.
